[video] An elf's got an idea y'all
[It's his grand debut to the network and he's looking fine, mostly thanks to a glamour that gives his clothes a little more pizazz than the robots can manage. He's sitting at his kitchen counter, chin resting artfully on the back of one hand, inspecting the nails of the other nonchalantly.]
Soooo, say I have a proposal for something that's mmmm-- [He pops his lips a few times as he thinks] --mega fun and a great way to, y'know, fill up the hours that we're stuck in this place. Oh, and it's useful for everyone, natch, can't introduce a product without letting you know that every single one of you can get some sort of use out of it. So say I got this awesome idea, but need a little help in the whole development portion, who can I get to help little ol' me out with that, huh?
Anyone here good at coding or doing nerdy computer shit? I got the idea and know exactly how I want it to go down, but, while I'm a baller wizard and a chef [and a scientist, but who needs to know that part, right?] I'm not exactly saavy with this whole [He gestures at the communicator camera.] thing. The coding thing. Making apps and shit wasn't Taako's deal, ya dig?
So? Anyone out there wanna help me spruce up this place or what?

As for the T and P?
[He gestures to his kitchen.]
I'm pretty free now if you're not otherwise indisposed.

[He'll attach his address here.]
Come on in whenever you get here. If you knock, then I have to get up.

[ She's there within ten minutes. OH BOY Taako must be living with Lup, Honerva, and Carl... She can't wait to see what sort of place they live in, or of any of them are there with him.
Assuming that he's left the electronic locks undone, she does enter without knocking. ] ...H-...Hello? Taako?
I'm the coder from the network.
no subject
Kitchen!
[His voice rings out as soon as she's announced herself and once she enters the kitchen, he's at the island, lounging in a high chair, bowls of strangely colored fruit and vegetables in front of him. He's got an umbrella laying across the counter and as Pyra enters, Taako grabs a blue oddly shaped peach, infuses it with magic, and then drops it into another bowl - now the right color and shape.]
So you're the coding nerd who's gonna help me, huh? Weren't you, uh... Shit. I've seen you, haven't I?
no subject
Incredible, is all she can think. ] Oh-- ah, my name is Pyra. [ They might have seen each other around, unless he's been cooped up in this place the entire past few months. Excitedly, she makes her way over to the kitchen counter near him, her smile bright, eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. ] It's-- it's a pleasure to finally meet you! I've heard about you from Carl, and... [ Right, right. Back on track. ]
Er, yes, I am able to code, and I've been learning a little more of the local's coding this past month.
no subject
She hurries over and Taako continues his almost lazy transmutation of another peach into the right shape and color, setting it into the same bowl.]
Not surprised he's bragging about living with the best chef in this place.
[The "and" was probably followed y "Lup" anyway, and he knows his sister talks about him. Probably to complain about how he's become a house gremlin lately.]
Is the coding all that different? Because I'm hoping to launch this baby ASAP. I- [Need the money so badly] - really want to help everyone.

[ It's taken her some time to learn the coding for making a whole goddamn game out of it; developing an app should be easier in theory.
And she has the time (and boredom) to offer her services. ] If we go through the basics of this app here and now, I'll be able to provide you a demo within a week or two.
no subject
Well then pull up a chair, Coding Wizard, and let's get this show on the road. You familiar with anything like Tindr or Grindr?
no subject
The title earns a small, soft giggle from her, and she takes a seat upon one of the stools. ]
Neither. [ She takes out her own communicator, opening it up to a blank page to begin to take notes for him. ] Would you enlighten me, Actual Wizard?
[ Assuming, of course, he is one like Lup. ]
no subject
[He snaps his fingers to create a minor illusion in the air, showing an image of the communicator enlarged. On it is a simple Tindr-like profile, scrollable pictures, and a small profile.]
I'm making a matching app - meant to match you to someone else in this place so you can make friends or find lovers or just find someone else looking to make some cash by holding hands for an hour.
[He picks up a silicon spatula from the vase of utensils and uses it like a pointer as he indicates the different parts of the app.]
Each person who signs up will get a profile where they can upload flattering or not so flattering pictures of themselves. Underneath they can write about themselves, their likes, dislikes, what they're looking for, weird shit they wanna tell people about if that's their dealio.
When you log in, the app'll check the area, see who's nearby, and then start sending you the profile picture, name and age of whoever that is. You can swipe right if you're interested in learning more, or swipe left if you're all "nah, pass." If you and the other person both swipe right, it's a match and you can see their full profile and start talking with them.
Two models for payment via the app that I haven't decided on yet. Either a monthly subscription fee, or a pay per match system.
no subject
So... at the very least it will need permissions to access the positioning system in the communicator, a matching system... and a sleek user interface.
[ She tilts her head. ] Would you like the matching process to be based primarily on locations first, or preferences...? [ Such as, only certain people in the area who like X will be potential matches for that person. Everyone else doesn't even show up on as a potential match. ] I can also design the system to learn based upon an algorithm generated from one's preferences, if you wish.
no subject
Hell yeah! That's what we're gonna need - anything attached to the Taako name has to be sleek and stylish.
[As for the matching process itself?]
We can probably set it up to do either. Location first, then preferences. You don't want to be looking for someone quick and find out your first match is in the ass-end of town. And you don't wanna be lookin' for a dude and get matched with nothing but girls.
No offense.
no subject
But this does make her think-- ]
Oh, my, ...is this some sort of dating app, too?
no subject
I'm not gonna police how people want to use it. You want friends? Boom, the app'll work for that. You want someone to just hold hands with you for an hour? Yup, our app'll do that, too. You want a booty call at 2AM after some drunken bender post break-up? We got the app for that.
no subject
It will help with those who are lonely, if nothing else... [ A pause. ] And who knows, maybe you'll be the first to match with a handsome man here!
no subject
[He waves the spatula and the illusion dissipates as he grins.]
And yeah, doubt that'll happen, but you never know. Maybe my tall, dark, and handsome'll show up. Maybe not.
no subject
[ Sure, sure, she’ll indulge in a bit of gossip as she already begins to draft the app. ]
no subject
[He shrugs and while she works, he turns back to his work. The peaches are done, so time to start converting the berries into actual strawberries.]
Or female. Which again, sorry, but that's a non-starter for me.
no subject
[ By the way she laughs, however, she’s only joking. ]
no subject
Hardly. He knows what a little weirdo he is and he probably likes it.
no subject
But this does make her consider: ]
If you swipe left on him, [ Or anyone, really. ] do I program that as a permanent “not interested”...?
no subject
[He sighs dramatically, falling onto the counter like Scarlett O'Hara in the midst of an episode.]
And I guess, not permanent unless you swipe left more than once. Just because you're looking for one thing one day doesn't mean you might not change your interests later. Humans are fickle.
no subject
[ Today, Taako, you might not be into floating ball-people. But tomorrow who knows.
Pyra is definitely going to be putting her preferences as everything and anything, without knowing any better. ] If nothing else, this will give people the ability to explore and [ A pause, and she continues quietly, ] connect with others.
That's wonderful.
no subject
[His predilection for humanoids is not one of them.]
But that's what I'm hoping it'll do. Get those homebodies and shy ones out and about, get them meeting people, strengthen the community, yada yada, the whole shebang. [And money for him, plz.]
So, you think it's doable?
