Regarding balance and conduits
Hello, everyone! This is Pyra, and I have important news!
For the past year, Honerva and I have been monitoring the energy levels around us, specifically that which makes up the barrier. While the barrier appears uniform, it's actually made up of four distinct signatures of energies. These energies fluctuate throughout the year, and there happens to be one that tends to come out in greater quantities than the others. After studying these energies some more [ And with greater concentration and effort on their part, certainly, because none of these energies can be detected alone-- ] we've discovered that at the point of touch or contact, this energy is undeniably generated, and the unique bands travel towards the direction of their corresponding temples.
If anyone is wondering, we haven't detected any energy generated by touch that might be traveling elsewhere, such as towards the Crawling One or Winged One as mentioned in the archives.
I'm sure some of us remember the following messages received two months ago, "Balance must always be kept"; before that from the Archives, "Balance, [The Winged Lord] told His followers, must always be kept"; and from Nalom last year, "Remember to keep the balance." It might just be that the balance that they're referring to is the four energies in relation to one another, and currently, it seems that Rawna's energy has been dominating for some time. [ Hopefully, however, not for long. ] It doesn't seem productive to simply discourage those aligned to Rawna from engaging in touch, since despite all of these messages of balance, we've seen some definitive changes in this city alone from what we've all accomplished together. We've come so far!
Since Ainir of last year, myself, Honerva, and Lup have been working on a conduit together, forged from nicean and sildar ores, the same ores found in the chasis units of the locals, to take in the excess, unbalanced energy into its core. We're hoping that we'll be able to help correct this balance in a few different ways. Our purposes for this conduit include:
I'm happy to report that we've presented this prototype and the goals to the researchers, and they seem interested!
Of course if anyone is interested in refining and continuing to work on these projects along with us, just let me know! A fair warning, though, that even though the researches are interested in what we can discover, the priests are not very supportive.
And if anyone is interested in exploring outside the barrier, I would be happy to lend you one of these prototypes to see how well (or faulty), our current version of the conduit works. I'm especially keen on anyone who is willing to explore further down the factory's mine shaft or those interested in finding the potential location of Fractured Hill.
(I would also like to thank Cloud for gathering all the scrap metals from the ruins to help with this project, Besithia for repurposing all the excess metal and continuing to investigate more on his own, Magolor who is no longer here but I've bounced ideas off of, and Noct for being so very supportive and tolerant of me coming home with metal shavings all over me.)
[ OOC: For fairness to all the people who wish to have their characters go beyond the barrier and limited slots, I'm going to only be counting those characters who expressed interested and responded on this post. ]

We're hoping that we'll be able to help correct this balance in a few different ways. Our purposes for this conduit include:
- • creating an exoshield around us to help explore outside the city's barriers
- • creating a haven with the conduit like a checkpoint or a satellite base outside the barrier
- • powering and protecting vehicles as they travel outside the barrier
- • to be simply worn by individuals who engage in more touch than others to divert excess, imbalancing energy into the conduit instead of upsetting the balance of the barrier that protects us all.

For initial prototype testing and exploration of the mine shaft I can send Esteem or Carbuncle with a recording device. Should there be no catastrophic failures then myself and Ardbert can explore further.

I worry that Esteem or Carbuncle might not tolerate the atmosphere, either. It seems to effect us all, regardless of who or what we are. Even one of locals that accompanied us on our exploration last year couldn't stay out there long, and she was made entirely of metal.
Erm, I'm not saying this to discourage you, but just as a warning.

But I suppose I could try to see if they'll allow more?It might also depend on how many exosuits they can have, too...
As for when it might be, the last time we went outside it took about a month after gaining permission.
Reno's too lazy to type right now I'm sorry

It may be an opportunity to check further into what is interfering with the monitoring equipment as well.

I think that's a good idea. There's just so much we don't know about the world outside the barrier, and when we explored last, we didn't find any sort of hint at computer systems. Everything was in ruins.

Oh, but, I was meaning to ask, some of this scrap metal Cloud is bringing me is very pretty from corrosion. You could probably use it in some of your art, if you ever wished to try mosaic-making.

What can be found beyond the barriers? I didn't think it was possible to explore past them.
[Which seemed to be a running thing considering Ren asking him about his Persona. He didn't think it was possible. He must have gotten sloppy and complacent while being stuck here. As someone who's aligned to Rawna, she doesn't have to worry about him at least.]
I would be up for exploring outside of the barrier. I'd like to see what's out there.
[Persona or not, it's better than what he has been doing so far; which wasn't much beyond a lot of studying and reading to try to find answers.]

Some creatures outside the barrier are dangerous, too. Do you have any experience with combat?

Ah, and I would be interested in observing how the conduit functions, should such a thing be possible.

Of course! The researchers returned our prototypes to us, so I'm able to show you. The touch-energy is strange in that for some reason, we're unable to feel it on our own, but when joining along with another and concentrating together, it's possible.
[ Of course, it had taken a full year of researching all of this to come to this point. ]

Mostly wanted to say if you ever need a ride while exploring you can give me a holler. I'm no good at the smart stuff but maybe you'll be able to get a bit farther before you gotta turn around. I can power it myself but shields sound awfully handy.

You've sure been doing a heck of a lot more work than I've been doing in this place. I feel kinda guilty for treating it like an extended vacation.
Anyway, I was definitely not part of the sciencey group of my team back home, but exploration in potentially dangerous situations is kind of my thing. Part of my thing. I can help with the exploring. Looks like my fiancé was already asking you about doing it anyway, so teaming up means less danger.
So I guess it just comes down to, where do you need us?

Oh, someone from above on the post is your fiancé?

Pyra, did the priests give any indication as to why they are so against your project? It seems odd that one side is for it and the other so against it. You would think the priests would be excited to see us coming up with a creative way to keep the balance with it being so important.
[A short moment passes and then another message arrives.]
When you go exploring I must insist you take a good supply of potions with you. Even if there are other healers with you, they may come in handy should you find yourselves hard pressed.
no subject
And, gladly. Actually, that alleviates most of my concerns for so many who wish to volunteer to go into the dangerous environment outside. If they have potions on hand, it'll help stave off injuries... and all that'll be left to worry about is if and when the toxin affects them. Thank you.
