Hello! If we haven't met, my name is Kyoko Mogami! I noticed the research center is offering money for new recipes, but it seems like they want it to be some kind of team effort? In any case, I already had some notes written up about some of the dishes I've been able to make satisfactorily since I got here, so if anybody would like to help me with the taste testing and descriptions, I can neaten up those recipes for submission. And of course we would split the compensation! Oh, but I've also gotten some additions to my replicator since I wrote down those other recipes, so I can do a lot more now! So far I have kombu, bonito flakes, miso, soy sauce, sake, and tofu! So if you want to try something that's not in the notes, just tell me what it is! Nikujaga would be nice, right? This is my house, and you're here because I invited you! [ Kyoko clenches a fist, a righteous fire in her eyes. ] That means you're a guest, and guests are supposed to relax!

[ There's a soft hiss from the stove as the pot of boiling eggs bubbles and threatens to boil over. With a soft ah!! Kyoko lunges to turn of the heat. ]

... They're probably done now.

Ninja endure and serve. We don't get treated like guests, and I've been doing nothing but relaxing in Havenwell.

[ He... may look like he's pouting a little, and when he hears Kyoko say that the eggs are done, he perks up with a, ]

Can I at least finish what I started?

Guests get treated like guests no matter where they come from! That's a central tenet of hospitality!!

[ He might be pouting, but she's still full of fire! Until she realizes-- ]

--Um, well, you still haven't told me how this egg preparation is supposed to go....

[ So she cannot finish it, as long as he holds this secret. ]

[ Nope. He's not going to reveal that secret even if it's going to be very easy to replicate. Sasuke will consider this a victory and start peeling the eggs.

Mr. Tori flies to wait by the flower mug as if to say, "You two work it out. I want lunch." ]

You're doing plenty already. Let me have this.

I was defeated so easily.... And on my own turf, too....

[ Kyoko sighs and pokes at the side dishes still simmering. Ah, she can go ahead and add those carrot scraps to the soup now, as she peeks over at the mysterious egg activities. ]

[ The grin on his face is a lot like a kitsune's smile, knowing he has maneuvered a win through his trick. (And yet he still views himself more a monkey than fox.) ]

Don't beat yourself up over it. I am a ninja, after all.

[ And he'll just start cutting into those eggs and sticking the carrot pieces in the appropriate spots. They are starting to look like mice and rabbits. ]

A ninja....

[ That's right, he really is, isn't he? Kyoko is contemplative for a moment, as she adds a pinch of salt to the broth. ]

That's right, I should be studying you. It's bound to be useful....

Not so much in this place. Here people want you to touch others for money and to save the world.

[ He does not subscribe to this even if he sells himself and his services technically. However, he quickly changes the subject. ]

Mr. Tori, do you want a rabbit or a mouse?

[ It doesn't make any sense until Sasuke turns around holding one in each hand. There are more left on the cutting board. ]

Ah, no, that's not what I--

[ Wait. A rabbit? A mouse?! Blinking rapidly, Kyoko turns to see where he got these rodents and is promptly amazed. ]

--You were making something like that!?

[ He presents them to Kyoko with a knowing and playful grin. Mr. Tori flies over to perch on his shoulder, cocking his head to the side as he decides which snack he would like to have. ]

A real easy recipe, don't you think?

[ It'd make a cute side-dish, won't it? ]

[ Why has this man wasted his life being a ninja when he could be creating these works of art?

Kyoko claps a hand to her cheek, eyes going big. ]

I didn't know you were this talented!

[ Long story short, war. ]

What's that supposed to mean? You didn't think I was talented?

[ He's teasing. No offense is taken. And Mr. Tori has stolen the ear off the rabbit egg. ]

I guess it's the rabbit this time.

I didn't know you were such an artist!

[ Is this the kind of thing he served his master and lordship? Mysteries abound. ]

Never say you're just a ninja again!!

[ ~~He's also a single mom to too many brats he doesn't remember adopting. Please help.~~ ]

I'm many things, but a ninja is the primary one.

[ An artist though? Him? That's a bit of a stretch for making something akin to snow rabbits. ]

You contain multitudes!

[ It's probably lucky for everyone that the broth starts to bubble up violently right now, leading Kyoko to break off that praise train and lunge to turn down the heat. ]

[ And Sasuke will find a small dish to place the one-eared rabbit egg on for Mr. Tori to start eating. ]

Is there something I can keep an eye on?

[ Kyoko started a number of dishes. If they are now getting ready all at once... ]

But I already forced you to make a side dish!

[ It was literally his own idea, but, details.

But it does seem like everything else is pretty close to done, so Kyoko fetches up the miso and stirs it in briskly. ]

[ Then Sasuke is going to stand here in the kitchen looking awkward because he's used to being the one in the kitchen cooking for others instead of the other way around. (Also, if he didn't make that side dish, Kyoko would never learn of his underused talent.)

Mr. Tori is just gonna eat his egg rabbit. Nom. ]

[ Good! Perfect! Standing quietly and not troubling himself is much closer to the guest treatment he deserves!

Kyoko will leave him in that awkward state as she bustles around for another moment or two, but then suddenly she's turning around with a carefully poised spoon of soup. ]

Please check the broth!

Hm? Yeah, sure.

[ He is going to try and take the spoon from her to sip it because it's weird for someone to feed him.

This... is probably going to go just as well as other things. ]

[ Good, thank you, that is actually what she expected; they're not on the feeding-each-other level of relationship, that would definitely be weird for everyone! She does keep a gently cupped hand hovering under the spoon as it transfers over to his grip though, cautious of spills. ]

It's hot, don't forget to blow on it!

[ Well then, there are no spoon mishaps to be benefit of everyone involved. Sasuke does lightly blow across the surface as instructed, though he would have done so without her prompting. He has more sense than that. (It also comes from having a master who is like a fire.) ]

It's almost like home. I think this recipe is good to introduce to others.

[ How lucky that they're both so boring and strait-laced in these matters. Centuries of cultural difference united by proper manners.

No, this is all about Soup Triumph. ]

Then it's ready! [ Kyoko claps her hands together, and beams. ] You can go sit down! I'll serve everything right away!

[ This time Sasuke does what he's told, bringing his side-dish and Mr. Tori's dish (and Mr. Tori) over with him to the table.

Soup Triumph and more is to be had. ]

[ True to her word, Kyoko dishes everything up swiftly and delivers it with all the smooth cheer hammered into her from years of waiting tables--though she doesn't have a tray here, so it does take a couple trips. But everything is laid out in short order, from steaming bowls of rice and soup, to side dishes, and even a little dish of pickled cabbage and carrots. Soon, she's beaming gently over the table. ]

Okay!! Anything to drink?

[ Oh oops, customer service voice. ]
