video;

[The camera flicks on to show a slightly scruffy Chinese man. A large tattoo of an eagle on his chest can be seen poking out from the top of his sleeveless shirt, and there's a tattoo of a Chinese dragon wrapping around his right arm. He looks like he could be a dangerous man...except for the fact that he's beaming.]

So, Havenwell, huh? If I heard it all right, sounds like we just gotta hug it out to get things back to normal around here. I gotta tell you, guys, there are definitely worse ways to save the world.

[He looks a little haunted on that last sentence, but he snaps out of it quickly, right back to his cheerful self - which is at least partially a facade.]

Look, I gotta ask, though...anyone seen a lady named Brigid? Redhead, kinda ripped, really pretty, some kind of American accent...New York? Brooklyn? [Boston, Jackie, but close enough. All he knows about America is from movies and what people on Konryu have told him. Which isn't much.] ...I dunno. Just thinkin', since she disappeared out of Aifaran before me, maybe she made it here, too.

[Ohhhh, he hopes she's here. He misses her like burning.]

Coming from someone who's just been fighting in an intergalactic space war, yeah, there are definitely worse ways. Welcome to Havenwell. It's pretty nice around here! Even though we've kinda been whisked here without consent, but...

[He gives a little shrug.]

I went to New York once, but I don't know what a Brooklyn accent sounds like. But I'll keep an eye and ear out for her, anyway. The name doesn't ring a bell, unfortunately.

Pretty much, yeah.

Man, you must live some life if getting snatched up is a common occurrence. Anyway, no problemo! I'm Lance. If you have any questions about this place, I can try to answer. I've been here several months at this point.

It's a pretty good way to do it, if the world has to need saving at all.

[Have a subdued smile; it's nice to see someone who seems so positive about coming here for once. He just wishes he could match that energy like he usually could right now.]

I haven't seen anyone like that, but I'll keep an eye out for her. If you need anything or have any questions, just let me know; I've been in Havenwell for a while, so I'll be glad to do what I can.

A pro at saving the world, hmm? You must have some pretty good stories. I'm Will, it's nice to meet you.

I suppose that's up to opinion, now isn't it? I've been here since the beginning. The first group of newcomers arrived in Lasdia, about..... eight months ago, I think?

Oh, sure. Like carry an umbrella around, for example--the weather around here can glitch out sometimes. Stuff like green snow stains if you let it melt onto your clothes. I carry around an umbrella and a couple towels if I'm going out.

Try not to live alone, if you can help it. Even better if you can get a roommate you don't mind cozying up on the couch with, or sharing a bed with at night. Just cuddling while you sleep easily earns you about a full day's worth of pay working a typical job.

Verstael made an information center, if you want to get caught up on what people know around here, that's a pretty good resource. And Taako and Lup made a pet cafe called Affurgato--it's definitely got the best food in town, since the replicators are still hit and miss sometimes.

Oh--speaking of food, be a little careful with any new stuff the locals develop for us. Maybe wait until you get home to try it out, just in case. Sometimes it just doesn't taste or look like it's supposed to, but sometimes it tastes good, but can have unintended side effects. Like that coffee a few months ago that gave people things like tails or horns. They're doing their best, but they haven't needed to eat or taste things in centuries, so you never know how it'll turn out.

It was kind of weird, but it was really fun. Just a minute, I'll show you.

[Will fires off a couple pictures to Jackie. One is a basic selfie of Will with Espurr ears, another of Will posing in a full length mirror to show off an Espeon tail, one of Kiwi with green-feathered wings spread wide as they prepare to try out their first flight.....]

Definitely talk to them, they're both amazing chefs. I bet they'd really be able to help you out.
